MOU between CAAM-HP and Dominican Republic

CAAM-HP is pleased to announce that on May 20, 2019 it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Higher Education Science and Technology (MESCYT) of the Dominican Republic in Santo Domingo. The objective of this MOU is for CAAM-HP to provide accreditation services and to facilitate their acceptance by the Universities of the Dominican Republic that offer training programmes in medicine and other health professions.
The Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) establishing the CAAM-HP and signed by CARICOM member countries makes provision in the Scope of responsibility for CAAM-HP to assess for the purpose of accreditation the education programmes of schools in Caribbean countries outside of the CARICOM framework and to represent governments and accredited schools before extra- regional authorities on the status/quality of their education programmes. 

Signing on behalf of CAAM-HP were Professor Marlene Hamilton, Chair and Mrs Lorna Parkins, Executive Director. Doctora Alejandrina Germán Mejía, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology signed on behalf of the Government of the Dominican Republic. 

Following the signing ceremony there was a Seminar at which representatives of all eleven (11) medical schools in the Dominican Republic participated in a Question and Answer session on accreditation.
