Caribbean Accreditation Authority for Education in Medicine and Other Health Professions

CAAM-HP Workshop, December 2025

Experience has shown that many of the offshore medical schools encounter difficulty in complying with the accreditation standards. Furthermore, with the implementation of the 2024 Revised Medical Education accreditation standards, the number of these schools submitting applications for accreditation and the increasing number being denied accreditation, CAAM-HP, recognising the need for further guidance, has organised a two-day workshop at the Hilton Hotel in Barbados, December 4-5, 2025.

The major goal of the workshop is the improved quality of medical education in the Caribbean region. The workshop will enhance the schools’ capacity to:

  • evaluate their readiness for accreditation
  • interpret the requirements of the standards
  • understand the accreditation process
  • understand and accept the outcome of the accreditation exercise

This is the second of two such workshops, with the first one having been held in the Dominican Republic, April 24-25, 2025, for the medical schools in that country.
